Julien Blackman, the founder, director and head piano technician of Sir Black Piano Services Limited is a member of the Piano Technicians Guild (PTG) with over 22 years experience in piano technology.
Julien had his start in piano technology in 2002 when he worked under a local technician repairing actions. Determined to become a skilled technician, he embarked on long-distance training with the Randy Potter School of Piano Technology from 2006 to 2008, which culminated in his participation at their in-person training seminar at Bozeman, Montana. In 2014 he ventured to Oregon, USA for one-on-one hands-on training with the same institution.
In 2018, he visited Hamilton Piano Company in Florida, USA, to learn from their expertise in operating a piano rebuilding company.

The pinnacle of his training came in 2019 when he was privileged to attend a one-week regulation training at the distinguished Steinway Factory, New York.
Ever conscious of keeping current in the field, Julien attended the 2024 PTG Southeast Regional Seminar in Jacksonville, Florida.
